Sarasota County Commission to hold planning workshop

Sarasota County commissioners will consider a recommendation from staff March 20, to develop an action plan to relocate the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office to Cattleman Road.
Sarasota County Planning and Development Services prepared an alternative to re-zoning and selling the 6-acre parcel of land at 1301 Cattlemen Road deemed as surplus property. That option instead plans three new structures surrounding the site of the new emergency operations center and forensics/medical examiners office:
• Four-story parking garage
• 150,000-square-foot administrative office
• 30,000-square-foot training facility
Commissioners will also discuss possibilities to build out current Downtown Sarasota facilities that could create 384 jail beds and 10 to 14 courtrooms.
