The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a possible hit-and-run after the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department found a dead man this weekend near a driveway east of I-75 .
Emergency services responded to a call about an injured person at the 200 block of Oakford Road at 12:43 a.m. Sunday, March 17 and discovered the body. A preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle struck the man, according to a Sheriff’s Office flash report.
The report states the vehicle suspected in the incident has been located, and a suspect is in custody.
