Google plans to build and test ultra-speedy broadband networks in select trial locations across the country for its new Fiber Network, which will offer 1 Gigabit-per-second data transfer rates, making Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what Americans use today.
We checked with Sarasota residents to see if they're up to date on Google Fiber and whether they think Sarasota would make a good trial location.

“It’s a way to make Sarasota more of a technologically inspired Mecca. We have so much invested in the arts, music and media, it would be a great way to keep Sarasota connected.
Would you want Sarasota to be a test market for Google’s new Fiber Network?
“Of course. Nothing but positive things can come from that. We could continue to inspire young people to grow and market themselves, and to help Sarasota flourish.”
