As of Wednesday morning, 319 residents voted early in Sarasota’s City Commission election.
During the last city election in 2011, 1070 residents voted early, with many casting their ballots during the last two days of early voting.
“Usually during an election you will see maybe a quick start and it will taper off,” said Cathy Fowler with the Sarasota Supervisor of Elections office. “Of course the last weekend of early voting it will pick up again.”
Six candidates are running for two at-large City Commission seats. The election is March 12, and early voting runs until Saturday, March 9.
Early voting will take place 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Office of the Supervisor of Elections, Sarasota County Terrace Building, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota.
For more on the upcoming election, see Thursday’s edition of the Sarasota Observer.
