Sarasota County commissioners gave County Administrator Randall Reid mixed reviews on a 41-point evaluation completed Feb. 27, with a positive aggregate score of 3.18 out of four.
Commissioners Carolyn Mason and Joe Barbetta were the harshest on Reid, with grades of 2.53 and 2.22 respectively, while none of the remaining three commissioners submitted scores less than 3.5.
“Randy’s doing a great job. It’s a pleasure to work with him,” wrote Commissioner Nora Patterson.
Commissioners praised Reid’s choice of assistant county administrators, re-organization efforts and the county’s fiscal stability.
Mason wrote that she was concerned that staff only discusses agenda matters in formal one-on-one discussions, compared with the “friendly” interactions under previous leadership. Barbetta wrote: “certain employees need to be reminded that they are public servants!!”
Commissioners will discuss the evaluations during a March 5 meeting.
