The Tampa Bay area, including Sarasota, is under a tornado watch, lake wind advisory and a hazardous weather outlook.
The tornado watch will remain in effect until 3 p.m. this afternoon for Sarasota County.
A lake wind advisory, which produces hazardous boating conditions on area lakes, is in effect through early this evening.
A hazardous weather outlook is also in effect. A line of showers and thunderstorms associated with the passage of a cold front will cross the region today from the Northwest — some of which might be severe. Also, some minor coastal flooding could occur, and marine winds will reach around 20 knots, creating seas of 5 to 7 feet.
