Sarasota City Commission candidate forum planned

All six city of Sarasota Commission candidates will meet Feb. 19 for a community forum hosted by the Arlington Park Neighborhood Association at Waldemere Fire Station.
Arlington Park neighborhood Association President Rick Farmer said in an email message that Sarasota Mayor Suzanne Atwell, Planning Board member Susan Chapman, Richard Dorfman, Linda Holland, Kelvin Lumpkin and Pete Theisen have accepted the invitation to attend the meeting.
Sarasota Military Acedemy Cadet Powell Stone, 18, will moderate the forum “because so few young people are involved in city elections,” Farmer said in the email.
“Historically we get a very good turnout as smaller Neighborhood Associations that do not hold a candidate forum attend,” Farmer wrote.
