Sarasota County seeks medical board volunteers

The Sarasota County Fire-Rescue and Emergency Medical Services District Advisory Board is looking for members to serve. The purpose of this advisory board is to review the business of the respective assessment for the taxing district and to make recommendations to the board through the fire chief concerning acquisition of property, capital improvements, operations and maintenance within the district. Also, the board conducts studies as necessary to recommend and request such services and facilities as deemed necessary to the residents of the respective district.
There are currently seven vacancies. To serve on this board, applicants must be a resident of Sarasota County.
Applicants, however, cannot live on Longboat Key or in the city of North Port.
One vacancy must be filled by someone residing within each of the following: Englewood-Fire Control District; city of Sarasota; and the city of Venice. Four vacancies must reside within Sarasota County. The term of appointment is three years and members must be able to attend at least 75 percent of the scheduled meetings in a calendar year. The board meets no more than four times a year.
