+ Cardinal Mooney Walk-a-Thon
Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School held its 12th 5-Mile Walk-A-Thon Saturday, Jan. 26, to benefit All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg and the Children’s Miracle Network. The walk-a-thon drew 150 participants and raised $2,250. During the past 12 years, the high school has raised close to $50,000.
+ National Anthem
Booker Middle School chorus students Madeline Epstein, Bailey Lovesky, Halle Nobles and Patty McGuire were invited to sing the national anthem Sunday, March 3, at the Orioles vs. Phillies game. Booker will have a booth at the game providing information about the school and its programs.
+ VPA Auditions
Booker Middle School Visual and Performing Arts auditions for the 2013-2014 school year will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 16. The audition sign-up deadline is Friday, Feb. 8. VPA accepts students based upon artistic talent and potential. Parents or guardians must be present at all auditions.
+ Mr. Roboto
Southside Elementary school is starting a Robotics Club for fourth- and fifth-grade students. Children will be introduced to the world of robotics from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Tuesdays. Chip Phillips and Wendy Chipman are sponsoring the club.
