The Arlington Park Aquatic Center, located at 2650 Waldemere St., will undergo renovations and close for six months beginning Monday, according to a Sarasota County press release.
The renovations are focused on the pool’s pump room. The pumps, heaters and filters will be replaced with new equipment. The City of Sarasota, which owns the park, is funding the project at a cost of $1,156,500.
The gymnasium, workout room, basketball courts, tennis courts and racquetball courts at Arlington Park will remain open as renovations are ongoing.

Can you dig it?
Third- and fourth-grade students of Temple Beth Sholom had a chance to brush up on their paleontology skills last week while digging for faux dinosaur bones.
Sound of scholars
Local students Caleb Upton and Matthew Vaadi received some help for their upcoming studies to the tune of $1,000 each from the Sarasota Chorus of the Keys. The scholarships were made possible through the Sheridan E. Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund. Both students plan to use the funds toward a career in music.
