WEEKEND BEST BET: Sarasota Ski-A-Rees season opener

Nik Wallenda captivated crowds last Tuesday, when he traversed U.S. 41 180-feet in the air, but he’s not the only local performer with a flair for breathtaking stunts.
The Sarasota Ski-A-Rees, a waterskiing troupe, has entertained families for nearly six decades with jumps, ballet and swivel lines, pyramids and many more feats.
The Ski-A-Rees Winter Show season kicks off Sunday, Feb. 3 and runs through Sunday, May 19.
Shows take place every Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ski-A-Rees Stadium located on City Island. Admission is free.
Established in 1957, the Sarasota Ski-A-Rees is a non-profit organization open to anyone interested in learning about and developing skills related to water skiing, water safety. For more information, visit www.skiarees.com or call 388-1666.
