+ Catholic Charities Ball 2011
Catholic Charities of Sarasota and Manatee Counties
6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 • The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota •
Ticket $200 • Reservations 941-355-4680, Ext. 311
It is one of our town’s most established events, formerly known as “The Bishop’s Ball” and still called that by many supporters. The invitation says “Bishop Frank J. Dewane requests the honor of your presence for a special evening…” and it’s tough to say “no” to the Bishop! The quartet of co-chairs includes Sarasota leading ladies Mary Kenealy-Barbetta, Julie Delaney, Bridget Spiess and Linda Whitacre. Honorary chairs Eileen Donovan and Maria DeSanto, long associated with the event, further strengthen its appeal. The band, Mainstream, will play for the third consecutive year – by popular demand. This year’s auction includes a trip to Australia, along with the always-popular “Dinner with the Bishop.” And the raffle is year’s free tuition at any Catholic school in Sarasota or Manatee County – not a bad bet for a $25 ticket. Pick your reason and make your reservation by calling the number above. And give our best to the Bishop!
