More than $5,000 in tools was stolen from three Goodwill trucks in the organization's Sarasota facilities parking lot Tuesday night, according to a press release by Goodwill Manasota.
The release states theives cut through the parking lot fence, broke into the trucks, and stole the tools.
President of Goodwill Manasota Bob Rosinsky says the tools were not insured for theft, and that the organization is looking at an increase in budget to replace the tools and repair the trucks.
"We're all victims of this crime. These thieves are preying on the good will of the Sarasota-Manatee community by stealing from a nonprofit that helps thousands of disadvantaged people in our community," Rosinsky said.
The organization is asking for donations to help pay for costs. For more information about donating to Goodwill Manasota, call 355-2721 or go to experiencegoodwill.org.
