The contractor building the Palm Avenue parking garage is taking a number of steps to keep nearby residents and businesses informed about the project’s progress.
Suffolk Construction has hired former Mayor Molly Cardamone to serve as a liaison between the company and the garage site’s neighbors.
It will also set up a Web site that will list details about the daily type of work and the work hours.
The company began its public information campaign Jan. 7, when it hosted an informational workshop for the project’s neighbors.
“We spent seven to eight months putting together our plan and how we impact Palm Avenue as little possible,” said Michael Beaumier, Suffolk vice president.
The company said in two weeks it would begin a series of three weekly meetings to gather public input.
At those meetings designer Jonathan Parks Architect will present two alternative garage designs.
The city created an original concept design, but the City Commissioner asked the design firm to come up with two alternatives.
The commission will have final say on the design.
