Brush with bad luck

A woman was unable to avoid paint that spilled in the street, and she drove through the spill, getting paint on her vehicle’s tires and underneath the vehicle. The manager of the construction company responsible for the spill asked the woman to obtain two property-damage estimates and bring them to her office.

Reported Oct. 5
10 a.m. — 10000 block of 284th Street E. Animal complaint. The complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, reported three horses were not being treated very well. When a deputy arrived at the scene, no one was home. He went behind the residence, where he saw two brown horses. One horse was eating some foliage; another one was drinking water from a large container. The deputy saw three empty feed buckets outside the fenced-in area. There was very little grass in that area, the deputy reported, but the horses appeared to be OK. The complainant said she thought the horses had lost weight since she first saw them. The area appeared not to have been used for stabling horses in the past.
Not so happy hour
11 p.m. — 1300 block of Main Street. Suspicious Circumstance. Two women told police that two nights ago, they each had had one drink at a restaurant before passing out. Both believe something was slipped into their drinks. Video footage of the restaurant was going to be reviewed.
Those nagging suspicions
8 p.m. — 2000 block of Siesta Drive. Criminal Mischief. An employee at the Siesta Drive Post Office reported she had discovered her right rear tire had been punctured about 8 a.m., when she was preparing to leave for work. Although she lives in Manatee County, she told a police officer she suspected the tire had been damaged at the post office. She said she was new to that office and recently had had some disagreements with other employees there. Video surveillance did not aid the investigation, and people the complainant identified as potential suspects said they knew nothing about the incident. The officer was unable to determine whether the incident did indeed occur at the post office.
