SINKING SUSPICION
1:30 p.m. — 6300 block of Midnight Pass Road. Residential Burglary. A couple reported two wedding rings, a bracelet and a leopard-print wallet missing from their rental unit after they spent the day at the pool. A friend of the couple told deputies he noticed a suspicious man in a blue windbreaker wandering aimlessly around the pool area.
March 8
BREAKING THE LAW
5 p.m. — 2400 block of Fruitville Road. Burglary of a Structure. Someone broke into a law firm office and stole a Toshiba laptop, checks and another computer. The suspect used a brick to break the window on the southeast corner. The office telephone was also moved from a shelf to an office desk.
POCKET CHANGE
8 a.m. — 1700 block of Waldemere Street. Burglary of a Vehicle. A resident reported a plastic bag containing $20 in quarters was missing from his car. The resident told a police officer he has a habit of leaving his car and home unlocked.
March 10
FOUR SWORDS AGO
7 p.m. — 3100 block of N. Tamiami Trail. Burglary of a Structure. Unknown person(s) pried open the rear door of a business and removed four swords from a display area.
March 11
TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET
3:26 a.m. — 300 block of Avenida Milano. Trespassing. A property owner called deputies after an unknown man and woman knocked on his door and asked to come inside. After the property owner sent them away, the man and woman did the same thing at the next house. Officers arrived and found the man inside the neighbor’s garage. Police called several times for the woman, who was hiding in a closet.
MO’ MOPEDS, MO’ PROBLEMS
7:30 p.m. — 2000 block of N. Washington Boulevard. Motor Vehicle Theft. A man parked his moped outside of an auto-parts store. When the man left the store, he saw five to six young men pushing his moped down the street. The man attempted to catch the young men, but they started his moped and drove off. The young men had two other mopeds with them. Officers searched the area for the moped with no results.
YOUTH IN REVOLT
3:46 p.m. — 900 block of Beach Road. Underage Possession of Alcohol. A deputy found a 14-year-old boy in possession of watermelon-flavored vodka and Dr. Pepper. The officer charged him with underage drinking and released him into his grandfather’s custody.
