Selby Gardens hosted its annual Tropical Fourth of July event this Wednesday, July 4. Hundreds of people celebrated Independence Day with a stroll through the gardens, enjoying food and beverages and a children’s area. As the sun set, attendees enjoyed the bayfront fireworks show.

The Sarasota Farmer’s Market hosted the second annual Shrimp and Lobster Festival Saturday, June 30. Last year’s event drew record crowds to the market, and this year, seafood fans flocked to the market in droves to enjoy live music, children’s events and of course, fresh shrimp and lobster. Food vendors even offered shrimp and lobster crepes.

Hundreds of people packed downtown Sarasota Friday, June 29, to enjoy an up-close look at the boats from this year’s Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix Festival. Boats, trucks and other sponsors and associated groups made their way down Main Street in celebration of the 28th annual festival, which raises money for Suncoast Charities for Children.

Mattison’s and Circus Sarasota joined forces to throw a downtown block party Friday, June 15, to watch local circus performer Nik Wallenda’s daring tightrope walk over Niagara Falls. Attendees enjoyed live music, circus performances and family-friendly activities, including face painting, balloon making and tightrope walking before watching the stunt on a Jumbotron video screen.
