Dorian Blake, the subject of this week's Backstage Pass feature, got his start working as a magician's assistant in the 1970s. He had a simple one-dove magic act that quickly grew to include a dozen birds as the doves started having babies and Blake's tricks became more complex.

Cardinal Mooney High School hosted its 11th annual walkathon to raise money for All Children’s Hospital Saturday Feb. 4. Students and families joined staff to walk for a cause. Eleven years ago, the high school lost several students to leukemia and decided to start this fundraising event to raise funds for research. The walkathon, which includes a dance-off, concession stands and field-day activities, was sponsored by Harmor Mobility, Sarasota Lanes, Petland and Tropicana. -
