Venice Theatre announces productions in 64th season

Venice Theatre opened the curtain on its 64th season the evening of Jan. 28 in the lobby. Each show was announced by Artistic/Executive Director Murray Chase followed by a performance by some of the theater’s regular actors.
Here’s what the 2013 to 2014 season will look like:
MainStage:
• “Becky’s New Car” running Oct. 1 through 20, 2013
• “Hairspray” running Nov. 12 through December, 2013
• “Boeing, Boeing” running Jan. 14 through Feb. 2, 2014
• “Oklahoma!” running Feb. 18 through March 16, 2014
• “Five Guys Named Moe” running April 1 through 19, 2014
• “The Elephant Man” running April 29 through May 11, 2014
Stage II:
• “Frankenstein” running Oct. 10 through 27, 2013
• “Superior Donuts” running Jan. 9 through 26, 2014
• “Underneath the Lintel” running March 13 through 30, 2014
• “Parallel Lives” running April 10 through 27, 2014
Cabaret:
• “Summer Cabaret Festival” running July 19 through Aug. 25, 2013
• “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!” running Nov. 1 through 24, 2013
• “The Marvelous Wonderettes” running Dec. 6 through Dec. 22, 2013
• “Radio Gals” running Feb. 7 through March 2, 2014
Generations:
• “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” running July 24 through Aug. 4, 2013
• “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” running Sept. 23 through 29, 2013

More than 100 community members and leaders, friends and family surprised Paul Thorpe, one of the founding members of the Downtown Association of Sarasota, April 25, at The Gator Club, to show their appreciation and celebrate the strides he’s made for Sarasota over the past four decades.
