The Circus Sarasota Gala got very interesting Friday night during the live auction portion of the evening.
Michael Klauber auctioned bracelets, yacht excursions, dinners at Michael’s On East and a trip see Nik Wallenda cross the Grand Canyon.
Meanwhile, performer Nik Wallenda and CEO of Circus Sarasota Pedro Reis added an extra item to the live auction: the two would take to the hire wire if enough money was raised. Reis had not been on a high wire for 30 years.
Donations spiked as attendees hoped to witness Reis return to the high wire alongside Wallenda.
People began raising their hands to donate to the cause. Even as Reis, Wallenda and Blake Wallenda, Nik’s cousin, climbed to the wire, people continued to raise their hands to give money to the Sailor Circus.
Watch our video to see how Reis did back up on the wire after 30 years.
