LBK Public Tennis Center ladies luncheon

The two USTA 3.0 women's teams at the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center attended an end-of-season luncheon Tuesday, April 6, at the Ritz-Carlton Beach Club in celebration of a first-place finish by the senior team and a strong finish by the super senior team. The 3.0 senior team is looking forward to further play at Florida USTA sectionals to be held May 21, in Daytona.
Club Longboat tennis tournament

Club Longboat held their annual tennis tournament on Thursday, March 25. Four teams of eight competed in the tournament. The yellow team, comprised of Jack Daly, Jerry Baker, Bob Kinley, Stu Graham, Esther Emmerman, Nancy Hart, Alice Dzenitis and Jeanette Snyder took first place.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
