Public Tennis Center courts the new year

The weather was chamber-of-commerce perfect for the 10th annual New Year's Day round-robin tournament at the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center. Forty players turned out for the event, which was organized by Jay Greenblatt.

Observer Cup gets into full swing

The inaugural Observer Cup began Saturday, Dec. 11 and took place at the Longboat Key Club Harbourside golf course. The two-player golf tour will also take place Jan. 9, at Heritage Oaks; Feb. 20, at The Founders Club; and March 26, in Lakewood Ranch.

The annual Observer Challenge tennis tournament took place from Friday, Dec. 10 through Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center. The Observer Challenge included singles, doubles and mixed-doubles matches.
