There are plenty of tennis players on Longboat Key but none rival the likes of the newly No. 1 ranked woman’s tennis player, Maria Sharapova, whose parents live on the island. Sharpova took victory over Petra Kvitova at Roland Garros Thursday. On Saturday, she could take her first French Open victory as well as a career Grand Slam: Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open and French Open. She will be the tenth woman to win the major tournaments.
