The Fidelity Investment Senior Doubles Tournament took place Thursday, April 15 through Monday, April 19, at the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center. About 50 doubles teams competed in the tournament, which was extended through Monday because of a rain delay on Sunday.
“The rain turned out to be a blessing,” said Richard Schlorf, tournament director. “It gave us an extra day of play. The tournament has been wonderful, and we’ve seen great sportsmanship.”
Lynne Thompson and Sande Nielson took first place in the women’s 55 doubles division, and Anita Marcus and Ann Moore won for the women’s 65 division.
Mike Davies and Joe Bachmann won first place in the men’s 70s division, and Larry Albritton and Frank Bova won the men’s 60s division.
