World class tennis right here on the Key? Yes, please!
A handful of the world's most elite players, including Sam Querrey, James Blake and Ivo Karlovic, will descend on the Longboat Key Club's Tennis Gardens starting at noon Saturday, April 13.
Up this weekend: the men's qualifying rounds and the Nick Bollettieri Pro-Am Event, which pits eight mere mortals against eight Sarasota Open contestants.
You can watch the veterans, who've made a name for themselves at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, as well as two local up-and-comers, Ryan and Christian Harrison, who train at IMG Academy in Bradenton.
Tickets, which range from $10 to $100 per day, or $500 for the whole tournament, are available at sarasotaopen.org

The Longboat Key Masters Golf Tournament, which took place March 28 through March 31, at the Resort at Longboat Key Club’s Islandside and Harbourside golf courses came down to less than one stroke’s difference between first-place winner Kevin Preston and second-place winner Michael Russell, of Longboat Key.
