Sale rummages up bargain hunters

When the doors opened at 3 p.m. Friday, March 5 for the St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Guild’s annual “Royal Rummage Sale” preview, there were approximately 500 bargain hunters in line at the Stella Maris Activity Hall. Tickets for admittance were $5 each.

St. Armands Key Lutheran Church hosted a soup dinner following their Wednesday evening Lenten service on March 3. More than 50 churchgoers enjoyed a hearty meal of spicy black bean soup and clam-and-corn chowder, followed by an array of delectable desserts.

Attendees of the Longboat Island Chapel’s Valentine’s Day jazz service took to the aisles when the program’s finale, “The Saints,” was played. While the Al Hixon Jazz All-Stars performed, audience members used colorful umbrellas to show off their spirited style. The annual event, which also featured vocalist Chris Brown, drew a large crowd to the church.
