CROP Walk

St. Armands Key Lutheran Church hosted the Sarasota Bay Hunger Walk, more commonly known as the CROP Walk, on Sunday, March 21. Despite the bad weather, 225 walkers from 14 different congregations around the area braved the storm to raise money to fight world hunger.

Game Day, held March 17, at Temple Beth Israel, was attended by more than 70 people, who were looking forward to a relaxing afternoon. Before play began, those who attended enjoyed a buffet lunch with cheese blintzes, salads and a choice of desserts. Players had a choice of games with Mahjongg, bridge and Scrabble being the most popular. The event was sponsored by the Beth Israel Women.
St. Mary's celebrates St. Patrick's Day

St. Mary's Star of the Sea celebrated St. Patrick's day with an evening of music and laughter on Tuesday, March 16. The sellout crowd of 400 enjoyed the musical stylings of Paddy Noonan, Mary O'Dowd and Brian Hunter, and comedian Eddie Divine had the crowd in stitches.

A wooden statue of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment, stands at the entrance to the prayer walk at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church. The walk extends from the church's parking area to the Intracoastal Waterway. The statue holds a bird-feeding tray.
