Opportunity knocks at All Angels sale

Dozens of shoppers took the opportunity March 6 to turn out for the Opportunity Sale at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church. Shoppers sifted through a wide choice of items that were for sale. The clothing racks were packed, as always, and there were a lot of browsers in the electronics section. Homemade cookies, cakes and bread sold quickly. Although some early birds did turn out for the sale, traffic was steady throughout the day.
Sale rummages up bargain hunters

When the doors opened at 3 p.m. Friday, March 5 for the St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Guild’s annual “Royal Rummage Sale” preview, there were approximately 500 bargain hunters in line at the Stella Maris Activity Hall. Tickets for admittance were $5 each.

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
