Michael Eisenstat, rabbi emeritus at Temple Beth Israel, spent three weeks volunteering in late June/early July on an Israeli military base outside of Tel Aviv, followed by two weeks at the Shalom Hartman Institute, in Jerusalem.

During the summer months, members of the Longboat Island Chapel have a picnic potluck the third Sunday of the month. Hosts for the July 18 event were Anne and John Summers. After enjoying a barbecue, with juicy watermelon for dessert, guests participated in informal games.
