Nancy Berkely, 90, of Sarasota and Dodge City, Kan., died Dec. 5.
Mrs. Berkely graduated in 1944 from the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was installed into PEO Chapter DZ in 1945 and served as its president in 1957.
Mrs. Berkely married Joseph Berkely in 1944. The couple shared a love of boating. Their first vessel was a surplus life raft, which they paddled around Ford County Lake in Kansas.
A member of All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church on Longboat Key, Mrs. Berkely lived a faith-filled life.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Nancy; one grandson; and two great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 14, at Plymouth Harbor, 700 John Ringling Blvd. Memorial contributions may be made to Plymouth Harbor Legacy Foundation, c/o Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 40 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota, Fla., 34236.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
