Steve Alan Gooding, 62, of Sarasota died Nov. 21. He was born Feb. 10, 1949.
Gooding was born in East Moline, Ill., and attended Franklin College in Indiana. He was a member of Building Managers International, the Single Action Shooting Society and a volunteer for Sarasota County Animal Services. Gooding was also the manager of Seaplace Beachfront Condominiums.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Jesse; mother, Lillian Hoff; and two sisters, Pam Hedges and Becky Jaffe.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Sarasota County Animal Service, 861-9500, or The Racing Dog Rescue Project, 379-3278.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
