Richard Arvid Hassel, 76, of Longboat Key, died Oct. 21.

Born in 1936 in Chicago, he was a first-generation Swedish-American.

Mr. Hassel was an attorney who served as general counsel and board member of Lifetouch Inc. for nearly 20 years. He is remembered for his generosity, humor and passion for life, people, hunting and sailing.

Mr. Hassel is survived by his wife, Eileen; son, Christopher; daughters Elizabeth Hassel and Gretchen Lohmann; four grandchildren; sister, Dolores Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church, 4280 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Another memorial Mass will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Pax Christi Catholic Church, in Eden Prairie, Minn.
