Ellen Shields, 72, of Longboat Key, died Oct. 19.

She is survived by her husband, James; son, Jim, of Long Valley, N.J.; daughter, Claire Demonte, of Princeton, N.J.; brothers Jimmy Ballentyne and Leslie Ballentyne; sisters Jean Butler, Tina Edwards, Janet Lendrihas and Mabel Esposito; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service took place at Christ Church of Longboat Key, Presbyterian.
