Born July 13, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Fishman grew up in Coral Gables. He met and married his wife, Elinor, in Tampa, where they raised their family. He was a unit owner at the Shore Condominium.
Mr. Fishman founded Fishman Mortgage Corp. in 1968 and was a supporter of many organizations, including Menorah Manor, Hadassah and the American Cancer Society. He was a past board member and longtime congregant of Congregation Schaarai Zedek.
Mr. Fishman served as treasurer of the Shore Condominium Association and was recently treasurer of the Suncoast Grady-White Boating Club of Longboat Key.
Mr. Fishman is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elinor; daughters Jennifer Berman, of Chicago, and Michelle, of Plantation; son, Jeffrey, of Tampa; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 15, at Congregation Schaarai Zedek in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society R.O.C.K. Camp, cancer.org, or Hadassah, Hadassah.org.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
