Jeanette Helen Schoener, 87, of Longboat Key and formerly of West Orange, N.J., died Aug. 5.
Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Newark, N.J., she graduated from Union High School and moved in 1952 to West Orange.
Mrs. Schoener was retired from Lord & Taylor in Milburn, N.J., where she worked for 25 years, and she also worked at the Holiday Inn. She lived on Longboat Key for the past 26 years.
A service was held Aug. 5, at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Stillpoint House of Prayer, P.O. Box 619, Bradenton, Fla., 34206.

Golfer scores victory with less than a stroke
The Longboat Key Masters Golf Tournament, which took place March 28 through March 31, at the Resort at Longboat Key Club’s Islandside and Harbourside golf courses came down to less than one stroke’s difference between first-place winner Kevin Preston and second-place winner Michael Russell, of Longboat Key.
