Lawrence Grant, 69, of Tampa and formerly of Longboat Key, died July 11.
Originally from Philadelphia, he graduated from Temple University and Temple Law School, in Philadelphia.
Mr. Grant practiced as an attorney in Paoli, Pa. He moved to Longboat Key in 1990 and in 2001, he moved to Tampa to help raise his grandchildren.
Mr. Grant is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wendy; daughter, Dr. Amanda Smith, of Lutz; son, Peter Grant, of Darien, Conn.; and three granddaughters.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, July 14, at Temple Beth Sholom Cemetary, in Sarasota.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the University of South Florida Suncoast Alzheimer’s Center, 4001 E. Fletcher Ave., Tampa, Fla., 33613.

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
