Donald James Roosa
Donald James Roosa, 80, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key and Lansing, Mich., died June 27.
Born May 21, 1929, he attended Albion College, in Albion, Mich., and Michigan State University, in East Lansing, Mich.
Mr. Roosa worked in real estate and land development in Michigan. He was a member of the Lansing Masonic Lodge No. 33 and a deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Lansing. He was a volunteer at Sarasota Music Archive for many years.
Mr. Roosa is survived by his wife, Iris; daughter, Karen, of Richmond, Ind.; sons, Steven, of Lansing, and James and David, both of Sarasota; stepdaughters, Cynthia Wilcoxson, of Sarasota, and Charlene Love, of Boston; stepson, Ralph Hartman, of Sarasota; and several grandchildren.

A service to remember Mr. Katzenbach will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 10, at Plymouth Harbor, 700 John Ringling Blvd. Friends are welcome.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
