Jill Green
Jill Green, 76, of State College, Pa., and formerly of Longboat Key, died Monday, June 22.
Born Jan. 20, 1933, in Ottawa, she worked as merchandise manager of apparel for Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor and Frederick Atkins Inc.
Mrs. Green moved to Longboat Key in 1988 with her husband, Al, who served as a Longboat Key town commissioner. She was a member of the Longboat Key Club and enjoyed playing bridge. The Greens moved to State College in 2006.
Mrs. Green is survived by her husband, Al; sons, Anthony and Timothy; sister, Sally Morris; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
