Peggy Hirsch Greenwald, of Longboat Key and Louisville, Ky., died June 11. She was 72.
Mrs. Greenwald was a 1957 graduate of Atherton High School and was a life-long Louisville resident. She attended the University of Miami. Later in life, she was a part-time resident of Longboat Key.
In Louisville, Mrs. Greenwald is best remembered as one of the founding partners of Rita ’N’ Peggy’s Choices, a jewelry-and-accessories boutique in Chenoweth Square for nearly 25 years. She was active in the community by volunteering with the Jewish Hospital Women’s Guild and the United Way. She was a member of the Standard Country Club, the Longboat Key Club, the National Council of Jewish Women and the congregations of the Temple and Keneseth Israel, in Louisville.
Mrs. Greenwald is survived by her husband of 53 years, Murray; daughter, Brooke; sons Bart and Brent; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in Kentucky. Arrangements are being handled by Herman Meyer & Son.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
