St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church is currently undergoing minor renovations, but the updates aren’t making a dent in the church’s Mass schedule.
Work began approximately two weeks ago, and, since then, the church’s daily Masses, which take place at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday, have moved into the Stella Maris Activity Center. Weekend Masses, which are held at 5 p.m. Saturdays and 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sundays, are held in the church.
According to the Rev. Gerard Finegan, the renovations consist mostly of painting and installing closet space and are limited to the main office and sacristy. The church moved weekday services to avoid noise interruptions.
“Rather than listening to the banging, Mass is in the activity center,” Finegan said.
Finegan estimated that work will continue for another two to three weeks.
For information, contact the church at 383-1255.
