David Lichtenstein of Longboat Key and formerly of New York, died May 24. He was 97.
Mr. Lichtenstein was born Jan. 15, 1915. He was a graduate of The City College of New York where he received a bachelor’s degree in science in 1936 and a master’s in science in 1938. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. After the war, he was employed as a health inspector for New York City until 1980.
Mr. Lichtenstein and his wife, Adele, moved to Longboat Key where he served as the chairman for the operating committee and a member of the board of directors at Longboat Harbour.
Mr. Lichtenstein is survived by his wife of 25 years, Adele; son, Michael; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
The funeral was held Tuesday, May 29, at Sarasota National Cemetery.
