Parishioners at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church enthusiastically welcomed the Rev. Gerry Finegan’s five sisters, all visiting from Ireland, at a reception after Mass May 3.
Finegan introduced his sisters, Catherine O’Leary, Anne Connolly, Mary Tunney, Brigid Duffy and Josephine Finegan, with brief comments about each at Stella Maris Hall.
“It’s a bit overwhelming,” Duffy said. “We’ve never had this kind of welcome before.”
Seeing Finegan surrounded by his five sisters, one member of the congregation commented, “With five sisters, no wonder he went into the priesthood.”
The St. Mary’s Guild organized the reception.
