Morton Goodman, 85, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key and Rockville Centre, N.Y., died May 3.
Born June 27, 1923, Mr. Goodman served as a lieutenant in the Army Air Forces during World War II flying combat missions in Italy. After World War II, he graduated from Syracuse University, in Syracuse, N.Y., and later managed his family business.
In 1976, Mr. Goodman moved to Longboat Key and opened the Bagel Inn in Sarasota. He later became a health-insurance agent. He was a former president of the Longboat Key Democratic Club.
Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife, Bernice; sons, Robert and Jon; and two grandsons.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Unity Hall, 3023 Proctor Road, Sarasota.
