The Episcopal Church Women of All Angels by the Sea had a busy agenda for their April 15 meeting.
Guest speaker was Joe Lappin, of Mote Marine Laboratory, who discussed the numerous research programs at the facility relating to human health. The effects of red tide on humans, especially respiratory issues and cancer-related projects with sharks, are key programs at Mote.
The election of officers was held with the following slate chosen for the coming year: Pat Anderson, president; Alison Jones, vice president of programs; Heidi Thomas, vice president of luncheons; Elaine Smith, secretary;
Jean Ruston, corresponding secretary; and Carol Hambrecht, treasurer.
Eleven organizations, including the Senior Friendship Center home-meals program, TideWell Hospice and
Palliative Care and food banks in Sarasota and Manatee counties shared $11,000 in donations the group had raised this year for outreach programs.
