Beverly Van der Voort, 91, of Longboat Key and formerly of Mount Prospect, Ill., died April 5.
Born May 27, 1922, in St. Louis, Mrs. Van der Voort attended Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
She raised her family in Mount Prospect, before retiring with her husband, Warren, in 1986 to Longboat Key.
Mrs. Van der Voort enjoyed traveling to many destinations. Her passion was golf, and she played for many years at Rolling Green Country Club, in Arlington Heights, Ill., and the Longboat Key Club, where she hit her first hole-in-one. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all play golf thanks to her encouragement and the many lessons she arranged.
Mrs. Van der Voort was preceded in death by her husband, Warren. She is survived by her sons, Warren Jr., Gary and Craig; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Mrs. Van der Voort’s life will be held at a later date.
