William Varnell, of Longboat Key and Dade City, died March 22.
Mr. Varnell graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1950 and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Lykes Pasco for 29 years in Dade City, mostly as its international director of sales for its vitality division.
Mr. Varnell opened his own brokerage company, Sourcing International, in 1990, and imported and exported industrial fruit juice concentrates. He retired at age 70 to Longboat Key.
Mr. Varnell is survived by his wife of 58 years, Julia; son, William Tandy; daughter, Amy Christine Goodman; four grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter.
A memorial service was held at the First United Methodist Church, in Dade City. An internment at the National Cemetery for United States Veterans in Sarasota will take place at a later date. Toale Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
