Margarita “Tica” Boley, 70, of Longboat Key died Feb. 26.
Born in Cuba, Mrs. Boley fled in 1958 to Mexico with her mother and stepfather, before settling in the Chicago area, where she worked for Rand McNally and later as a real-estate agent.
She started vacationing in the 1980s on Longboat Key and moved to the area permanently in 1996.
Mrs. Boley was famous for her afternoon doggie play dates, which she hosted for friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Japan-America Club. She cherished quality time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Taemie Saucerman, Eric Boley, Helen Boley and Garrett Boley; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at her home, 771 Binnacle Point Drive in the Emerald Harbor subdivision.
