Albert Bernard “Albie” Frank, 80, of Sarasota, died Feb. 2.
Mr. Frank moved 30 years ago from Philadelphia to Longboat Key and then to nearby Sarasota. He worked in the furniture industry until his retirement in 2002.
Mr. Frank served on various Longboat Key town boards and gave his philanthropic support to several local non-profit organizations.
Mr. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea; brother, Burt; daughter, Ellen Sanders; sons, Ronald and Herbert Sivitz; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 40 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota. Memorial donations may be made to the Sarasota Manatee Association for Riding Therapy, 4640 County Road 675, Bradenton, Fla., 34211.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
