Nancy Roseanne DeRobertis Harris, 83, of Longboat Key, died Dec. 11.
A native of Chicago, Mrs. Harris studied art, music and culture at The University of Chicago, Wellesley College and Northwestern University. She was a rare-book dealer and one of the first female members of the Antiquarian Bookmen’s Association.
Mrs. Harris was involved with the United Methodist Church’s women’s groups and charitable activities. She had a tender heart for children, people living in poverty and animals. She supported numerous organizations, including orphanages, the Red Cross and the World Wildlife Fund.
In retirement, Mrs. Harris enjoyed traveling with her husband, George, especially to Great Britain, France, Italy and Israel. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends at the Spanish Main Yacht Club, where she lived for the past 20 years.
She is survived by her husband, George; son, George P.; daughters, Kathleen and Jennifer; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
