Robert J. Weeks, 78, of Longboat Key and Sea Girt, N.J., died Dec. 23.
A New York native, Mr. Weeks graduated from Manhattan College and attended Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business Leadership Training Program. He had a successful 35-year career at Dun & Bradstreet, where he was vice president of operations.
Mr. Weeks was also a Korean War veteran.
Mr. Weeks loved wintering on Longboat Key, where he was active in the Spanish Main Yacht Club community and an avid golfer. In Sea Girt, he regularly volunteered for AARP Foundation Tax Aide and the Sea Girt Community Appeal. He also served in various capacities at St. Mark’s R.C. Church.
Mr. Weeks is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Moore.
He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 56 years; seven children: Christopher Weeks, Lori Gouldson, Mary Beth Snyder, Michael Weeks, Thomas Weeks, Nancy Harman and Jamie Weeks; brothers Richard, Donald and David; sisters, Muriel Alex and Patricia Porvasnik; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Jan. 5, at St Mark’s R.C. Church, in Sea Girt.
Memorial donations in Mr. Weeks’ memory may be made to the St. Mark’s Social Concerns and the Sea Girt Community Appeal.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
