Injured toddler prepares for surgery

Libby Claire McGarity, the 22-month-old toddler who was critically injured July 10, when she fell from a loft in the Village home of her grandparents, Jim and Susan Pressly, will undergo surgery to replace her skull flap Thursday, Sept. 3.

Longboat Key Police Deputy Chief Martin Sharkey celebrated the big 5-0 Tuesday, Aug. 25. As of Tuesday, Sharkey, who has been a Longboat Key police officer since March 1981, wasn’t planning on any big celebrations — a low-key drink with his squad.
